Step 2 – Conflict of Interest Review
HASBAT Government Affairs Committee Chair reviews the request to ensure there is no conflict of interest. If a conflict exists, the Government Affairs Committee will contact the company for clarification.
Step 3 – Ad Hoc Committee Review
An Ad Hoc Committee reviews the request to determine whether the dispute is appropriate for mediation. If so, the committee contacts the other party to determine their willingness to participate.
Step 4 – Agreement to Mediate
If both parties agree, the committee assists in drafting and signing an agreement to pursue mediation.
Step 5 – Selection of Mediator
The committee proposes one or more neutral mediators for consideration. Once both parties agree, a retaining agreement is negotiated with the mediator.
Step 6 – Mediation Begins
Once the mediator is retained, the mediator oversees the mediation process directly. HASBAT's role concludes unless additional assistance is requested.
