The US Army has formed 8 Cross Functional Teams (CFT) as part of the its modernization effort. Two of these teams, Future Vertical Lift and Assured Position, Navigation and Timing( PNT), are led by individuals at the Redstone Arsenal.
Position, navigation and timing is a critical enabler for nearly all warfighting functions. It impacts the warfighter's ability to shoot, move, communicate, provide command and control, and maintain situational awareness. It is essential for network command, control communicatios, and intelligence; precision fires; air defense; aviation; and land navigation. Accurate and trusted position, navigation and timing is a central component to Warfighter dominance in the battlefield
