Two days of on site training by the CBT Workshop for a company is $8,900. This one day of training offered through the SBIS program covers a lot of the two-day course but in less detail. This training is free to HASBAT members.

Employees from any HASBAT member company are eligible to attend any or all sessions of the Earned Value Management System workshop at absolutely no cost. Attendance is open to all employees of all HASBAT member companies whose dues are current.

Pricing for non-HASBAT members is $50 for all sessions and includes all benefits provided to HASBAT members.

Additional access to web-based course: The CBT Workshop is also offering 45 days of free access to their web-based course "EVMS Fundamentals" to everyone who attends one or more of the following workshops on September 27. (If purchased on the CBT Workshop website, this web-based course would cost $795.) The courseware combines slide presentation with a visual instructor just as in a classroom environment. The course contains fully-narrated lessons and is equivalent to two days of instructor-led training. The course is delivered from CBT Workshop's online Learning Center, with no software to install or instructors to schedule. CBT Workshop will contact each attendee after the September 27, 2011 workshop with details on how to access the free web-based course. You must be present at one or more September 27 workshop sessions to gain access to the online course.

September 27 Workshop Topics

Session 1: 8:00 AM -- 9:20 AM

  • Earned Value Executive Overview: A high level introduction of Earned Value (EV) that explains the concept, why use EV, what makes up an EV System, major EV events, and examples of EV.

  • Earned Value Application Thresholds and What They Mean: This session focuses on improving your companies EVMS compliance through an increased understanding of the various Government EVMS Thresholds and what they mean.  Various Government Agencies and Departments EVMS Thresholds will be explained in detail.  Also, the unique EVMS differences between various Agencies and Departments will be highlighted.

  • What is an Earned Value Validation and How Is It Accomplished? For DOD EV contracts over $50M an EV Validation is required. The session will address how to prepare for a validation, the validation process and what has to be done to maintain the validation once received.

Session 2: 9:30 AM -- 10:20 AM

  • What Is Earned Value and How Does It Work? This introduction to EV explains the Government requirement, the EV concept and some historic background.   It will also cover the current ANSI EIA EV Criteria, how an EV system is constructed, major EV events and EV nomenclature. The session end with an example of EV in use.

Session 3: 10:30 AM -- 11:20 AM

  • The Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and Earned Value: This session helps you to understand the critical links between the IMP and the IMS and how they work together to allow you to develop a fully linked IMS that can then be used to develop the programs critical path.  In addition you will learn how the IMS links to the EV system so that performance can be recorded.

Session 4: 1:00 PM -- 1:50 PM

  • Earned Value and the Control Account Manager (CAM): Learn what a CAM is, what their responsibilities are and what tools they need to perform the most critical job in an EV program.   How the CAM supports monthly statusing, how baseline changes are incorporated and how to prepare for an IBR is explained.

Session 5: 2:00 PM -- 2:50 PM

  • Example of Earned Value in Action: We take a simple road construction example from contract award through Integrated Baseline Review.  This includes setting up the Work Breakdown Structure, Integrated Master Schedule, Performance Measurement Baseline, control accounts, statusing and reporting.

Session 6: 3:00 PM -- 3:50 PM

  • Earned Value and the Integrated Baseline Review (IBR): This session will address what is an IBR, its purpose and the recommended preparation required. We will also go through the actual IBR process and the benefits of an IBR. Lastly we will go over the results of an IBR and IBR related information.

Session 7: 4:00 PM -- 4:50 PM

  • Summary: This session will provide a general wrap-up of the information presented during previous sessions and allow time for a question-and-answer period.
