All HASBAT members are asked to serve on at least one of the following committees. There is no limit to the number of employees from a company who may serve on a committee or the number of committees on which a member company can serve.

To join any of these committees at any time, please send an email to the chairperson of that committee by clicking on his/her name.

In order for HASBAT to be a vital, thriving organization that can meet the needs of our members in today’s ever-changing small business community and that can effectively promote activities to further our mission statement, we need the support and participation of all our members.

Awards and Scholarship Committee

Co-Chairs: Autumn Sellars, Dale Brown, and Shawn Wilson

Mission Statement:  Define guidelines for awarding annual scholarships to students at UAHuntsville, Oakwood University, and Alabama A&M; Small Business Advocate Award for Excellence (define guidelines, solicit nominations, organize award presentation)

Ways and Means/Finance Committee

Co-Chairs: Dale Brown and Larry Lewis

Mission Statement:  Conduct financial matters and fund raising activities for the Association.  This includes:  organizing, developing and controlling all Association sponsored fund raising activities; planning and developing the annual budget; conducting all financial matters; preparing financial reports for the president; and receiving, dispersing and assuring security of the Association’s funds.

Government Affairs

Co-Chairs: Ben Lowe and David Phillips

Mission Statement:  Monitor governmental and legislative activities of local, state, and federal governments; plan strategies to achieve HASBAT’s purposes.

Industrial Affairs/Opportunity Development Committee

Co-Chairs: Bill Whipple and Phil Carey

Mission Statement:  Identify small business opportunities in North Alabama in ways in which members can use such opportunities for economic development; create opportunities to interface with government and industry representatives to promote HASBAT’s purposes.

Membership and Member Services Committee

Co-Chairs: Shawn Wilson and Steve May

Mission Statement:  Develop and conduct a membership recruitment program, assuring that the criteria for membership is met; identify and secure services and programs in which members can participate as a benefit of HASBAT membership.

Programs Committee

Co-Chairs: Dale Jobes and Sarah Nelson

Mission Statement:  Responsible for all activities and programs, including meetings of the members, and for planning and managing special activities at the request of the Board of Directors.

Public Relations Committee

Co-Chairs: Rey Almodovar and Tracy Baldwin

Mission Statement:  Promote the work of HASBAT and inform key stakeholder groups and the public in general regarding issues and events affecting high technology small businesses in the Huntsville.
